Reuse groups like the Freecycle Network use email to offer items and arrange for pickup. Membership is free, and groups are moderated by helpful volunteers.
Get started by finding a reuse group in your area. Then sign up with Yahoo! Groups (if you're not already a member). That's how you'll get email about things being offered and where you can post your items to give away.
