An iPhone can be a useful tool for locating the best deals around, finding free stuff, replacing things you might otherwise have to buy, and more.

The apps below do more than just help your budget. They also benefit the planet in some small way whether it's by keeping you out of the car or diverting valuable stuff from the landfill.

  • Local Reuse helps you search for free reusable items that your neighbors no longer want. It's also a great tool for giving away old things that aren't ready for the landfill. Price: Free

  • Yowza uses your iPhone's GPS system to find and deliver deals and coupons for stores in your local area. The best part? You don't need to print anything out. The store cashier can scan the barcode right off of your phone. Price: Free

  • Yoga Stretch iPhone app
  • Find places to eat, drink, and shop specific to your location so you don't have to travel too far with Yelp. The latest version helps you find nearby sales and special offers. Price: Free

  • Save money on yoga classes and the gas to get there. Yoga Stretch walks you through a whole series of poses and lets you to pick your own background music. Price: $0.99

  • GasBuddy will help you find the cheapest gas around so you don't have to waste time or money shopping around for the best deals. Price: $2.99

  • Keep track of your car's fuel and power efficiency with greenMeter. The app also evaluates your driving so you can increase efficiency and save on gas. Price: $5.99

  • Using a bike instead of a car is great for your wallet, your health, and the planet. Bike Your Drive computes your average speed, calories you burn, carbon dioxide emissions offset, and more. Price: Free

  • Save money on guided tours with Tourcaster. These MP3 walking tours give you an insider's view of new cities such as Paris, New York, Dublin, and others by foot. Price: Many audio guides are free, while more specialized tours cost $5.00 to $24.99.

  • iCarPark uses GPS to track and remember where you parked your car. Set the app's alarm to limit time at an expensive garage or avoid getting a ticket from an expired meter. An added plus: It gives you walking directions back to your car so you won't waste precious time wandering around. Price: $0.99

    Thanks for the app ideas. These apps appear to be able to do almost everything, and with cell phones reaching over 4 billion people, I've also read that it's by far the biggest market in the world and for it's size, pretty much untapped when it comes to marketing to them. http://unlockcellphonecash.com

    THE BEST DEAL is an app that's pretty useful when shopping for pretty much anything. It helps you decide which items really are the better deal when comparing different brands that come in different sizes or quantities. A lot of times items are packaged to make you think you're getting a deal when, in fact, you're not!
