From pole to pole, around the equator, across deserts, to the top of mountains and into the depths of the oceans, perhaps no single documentary has explored the diversity our little blue marble as Planet Earth.
This 11-part TV series was filmed by the BBC and broadcast in the U.S. on the Discovery Channel this year, and it's now available on DVD.
This is a great gift for families with kids and any animal- and nature-lovers. Plus, it's out on HD and Blue-Ray, so if you know someone who loves high-quality footage, this should look magnificent.
Note that the BBC version with original narration by David Attenborough is most commonly sold. The version with narration by Sigourney Weaver that was shown on Discovery Channel is only sold on Discovery's website. Looks like the footage is the same on both.
