GreenFest frisbees by Trystan L. Bass

Last weekend, I went to the Green Festival in San Francisco. Being a non-driver greenie, plus having commitments at the office, I could only take in one afternoon at the conference, and wow, I wish I could have seen more!

During this week, I'll feature interviews and information about the people I talked to, the panels I sat in on, and products I investigated. Check out the GreenFest's calendar, because the event is coming to Seattle and Chicago in 2008.

My first interview was with David Anderson, publisher and chair of Green Options Media.

Launched in February 2007, this environmental community features free blogging services and hosts some pretty catchy writers. A while back, we linked to the clever why squirrels think we're nuts article here.

Anderson says that Green Options -- or "GO" for short -- hopes to break down the big issues into easy-to-find topics so people can dig deep into the specific green focus that interests them.

A number of high-profile writers are featured on the site, such as Sustainablog. "The network is a playground for our writers," according to Anderson, who notes that GO seeks out fresh, eco-friendly voices to post on the site under specific topics.

But GO is open for everyone. Anderson calls this "a community where users can come and blog about good things that are happening in their journey and the struggles they're having in their journey."

GO makes it simple connect your own eco-musings with others. "If you're a newbie to green," Anderson suggests, "go to greenoptions.com and explore and see what other users are doing and interact and, if you want, start your own blog, and share with the world how your journey's going."

Anderson has a lot more up his (probably organic cotton) sleeves, so keep an eye on GO. I'm sure we'll find more great articles there in the future.
