If you eat fruits and vegetables that are currently in season, you'll cut down on your carbon footprint.

How?

In-season greens don't have to be flown and trucked half way around the world to get to your grocery store. Fewer miles traveled means less pollution created in the process.

Food Network has a general guide to what fruits and veggies are at their peak in what seasons.

Look for tomatoes in summer, sweet potatoes in fall, oranges in winter, and spinach in spring, among others.
