Eco-cocktail, anyone?

Cocktail, Alyson Hurt, Wikipedia

Admittedly, switching to sustainable wines, beers, and spirits won't save the world. But sipping a cosmopolitan made with Square One organic vodka sure does make it easier to read all the depressing news about those polar ice caps melting.

Plenty Magazine recently came out with a list of recipes for eco-friendly cocktails that are fresh and fruity -- perfect for summer entertaining.

Each recipe suggests a few liquor brands to cut the carbon footprint of the drink. And it goes without saying that you'll want to use local or organic fruit for that sangria and strawberry mojito.

Want something simpler? Toss back a beer from New Belgium Brewing Company. The Colorado brewery is totally wind-powered, and its Fat Tire Amber Ale goes down smooth as silk. Chill a six-pack in your energy-efficient fridge, and you're set for the season.
