The refashionistas

Being green may seem trendy these days, what with hot Hollywood actors and rock stars jumping on the climate change bandwagon. But saving the planet while looking trendy feels like a huge challenge in itself.

Not so for one Australian mom who started her own little green revolution with her website Wardrobe Refashion.

Nichola Prested took her crafty cleverness and turned it into a pledge: don't buy any manufactured clothing for a period of two, four, or six months.

She put this idea out on her blog and asked if anyone wanted to join her. Sixty people took the first pledge, and by the second year, she had 400 fellow "refashionistas" who were sewing their own clothes and remodeling thrift-store finds into fabulous new wardrobes.

Instead of encouraging factories to crank out new garb, these stylish folks are reducing, reusing, and recycling while also looking super-stylish.
