Portable power stick charges in 10 minutes

One of the more useful gadgets to debut at CES last week was the ZipCharge by Freeplay Energy, the company that brought us the first hand-cranked radio. The ZipCharge is a power stick that recharges in 10 minutes with enough power to fully charge a cell phone or iPod. That significantly cuts down the time it takes to charge your devices when you plug them in directly.

The secret to the speedy charge is a nano-phosphate lithium cell fed by intelligent circuitry. The portable power stick has a USB port and multiple adapters so that it works with 85% of cell phones, iPods and iPhones. So, no matter where you are when your cell phone or MP3 player dies, you won't be without for long.

The ZipCharge hits shelves in March for $80.
