The Prius does Silicon Valley

By Hank Green Posted Wed Aug 8, 2007 9:06am PDT

The world's largest collection of geeks is (no surprise here) now the first community where the Toyota Prius outsells any other car. Dealerships are selling more than 1,500 Prius' per month. This probably would have happened sooner, but this is the first time since launch when there was no waiting list for hybrids in the Valley.

We assume that the brains of silicon valley are trend setters and that we should expect hybrid sales to boom across the country next. OK, maybe that assumption has a little bit of hope built in as well. But as more pure-hybrid models hit dealerships, I think we'll see hybrids truly taking hold in the market.
